One of the things I've found is that music is so much more than chord progressions - and I'm not talking about just the Christian music scene either. The fact is, one of the most meaningful songs for me is by an artist with quite the potty mouth at his concerts! However, when a friend of mine asked me to give one song that would describe my life, this was the very first song that came to mind. Here it is:

Little Victories (by Matt Nathanson):
This time, I'll be sailing
No more bailing boats for me
I'll be out there on the sea
Just my confidence and me
(Chorus):
And I'll be awful sometimes
Weakened to my knees
But I'll learn to get by
On little victories
This time, I'll have no fear
I'll be standing strong and tall
Turn my back towards them all
Chorus
And if the world decides to catch up with me
It's a little victory

Here's to everyone, that they find their own little victories

Do you ever wonder what was happening in the song writers life when you look at the lyrics?

One song that has touched me are "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" where the writer says, "Who with me my burden shares? None but thee dear Lord none but thee."

In "What a Friend We have in Jesus" the writer says "Do thy friends despise forsake thee, take it to the Lord in prayer. In His arms He'll take and shield thee, thou wilt find a solace there."

Sounds like the writes of these songs had tasted betrayal as well.
