I've just been betrayed, what can I do?!

Well, first things first, you need to forgive. I'm not saying you need to go and be best buddies with your betrayer, but forgive them. You don't know their reasons behind their betrayal - who knows, maybe they don't even know how powerful their betrayal was! Hate is a terrible thing to have built up in your system, and it never leads to any good (I love referencing TV shows and movies, so think about what Yoda was saying when he was explaining why he wouldn't allow the training of Anakin...and look what happened!).

This next part depends on how many people betrayed you. If it was a single person, don't worry! Your social network (for the most part) is still intact, and as painful as it may seem, you can go on without that friendship (if this indeed means the end of a friendship:crying. If it was your entire social network (as was the case with me), then you need to figure out if the people in this group are truly your friends. If they are, GREAT! Talk about the situation with your group, and get the situation resolved (a neutral mediator may be helpful here). If they aren't, find a new social network that will support you! I know this can be hard - in my case, I had to leave not only my grade, but my high school as well! - but it is of uber-importance! No matter who you are, what your personality type is, I guarantee there is a group out there where you would be valued (and you should be!)

No matter where you may be in your recovery, please post, I'd love to help you through this time!
