Sunday Confusion (guest) Posted:09/15/2006 3:48 AM
My school football team practices on Sunday which means I have to miss church.

People at church keep telling me they miss me yet we aren't allowed to miss practices. I love the Lord and I want to be on the team.

Have you ever had this problem? What should I do?

Thank you for listening.

Thank you for writing with your question. I praise God that you have a church family that misses you when you are not there, and that you miss them when you are not there. It sounds like a great church family. There are a few things that you didn't mention as you described the situation that I would like to know. 1)have you talked to your coach about canceling practice on Sunday. Maybe your coach would cancel if he knew that there were some people on the team that would like to go to church. 2) Have you prayed about this? It seems that you have a great relationship with God-- what is He telling you? 3)have you talked to your pastor?

You have a tough situation. It does seem that whatever you choose, someone is going to lose out. If you chose to go to church, you lose out on football, and your team loses your gifts and talents for that game. If you choose to do football practice, you miss out on those things that are happening in church. Also, God and your church family are losing the benefit of your gifts and talents that He has given you for the church. God wants to be more improtant in your life than ANYTHING else.
So after all my ramblings, my advice would be to pray first. Seek God and He will answer you. Once you are sure what God would have you do, go to the coach.
I hope this helped, but if not, please write again. May God richly bless you as you seek to do His will in this situation and the rest of your life. Be Blessed, Jerry
