First, Try to fill me in just a bit. I am assuming that this is a brother that you ae talking about. Secondly, his drug of choice is alcohol. How old is he? If he is underage then the school and your mom can most certainly do something about it. Teenage drinking has become so widely accepted as just a passing phase, but what people do not understand is that for some it becomes a life long escape and an excuse for never getting on with life. It's always great to be the life of the party until you wake up one day and find out that you are the only one still at the party, friends have grown up and moved on but your still wrapped around the bottle. You mentioned that your mom is too scared to do anything, what about a dad? is your's around? Also is your brother ( again I am assuming) on any sports teams? Most schools nowadays will test for this before games if it is brought to their attention. As for what you can do, unfortunatly not much. This really is not your problem, although you do have to deal with the after effects. You can try and ask him why, you can even tell him that you are scared for him, but if he does not want help right now there isn't much that you can do. Prayer helps and so does having someone YOU can talk to. As for your mom she can always give him an ultimatum. (My parents had me live in the garage for two years until I left) because I continued to break their rules about partying. Not at first mind you but now much later on I am glad they did it. First it made me realize that some of my so called friends weren't really ( when I needed help) and secondly when you have to pay for rent you can't afford other things. It's tough love to the first degree but sometimes it is the only answer. Your Mom may also want to call your local YMCA where they have counselors that have been there and can help. Please don't give up on him or yourself. He needs to see he has a problem before he can fix it. I'm here if you need me to just vent or to talk seriously. Let me know a good night for you and I can't up a live forum so we can talk. Kimmy
