Survey on domestic violence.

The article is interesting however, it fails to mention that most woman who are victims of domestic violence are learn very quickly that they are to keep it quiet and not share with anyone. Part of it is due to fear and part is that the woman has been convinced that it is her fault and if she had only done something better or his way she would not have been hurt. If the woman does keep the violence secret well enough, no one will know or even guess what is happening to her. The woman will eventually lose her identity and spend every second of her waking hours trying to avoid the situations that set of the abuser. It is an exhausting experience and very quickly consumes the life of the person trying to survive. Domestic violence is not always physical, verbal abuse can be just as damaging if not more so. I know, I was a victim for thirty years, ten years of dating and twenty of marriage before I was able to break free from the abuse. My abuse was more verbal than physical although there were several times when I feared for my life as he tried to strangle me and threatened me with knives. Once I realized that I was somebody and didn't deserve this treatment I was able to seek counseling and break free of the abusive relationship. I am no longer a battered woman and have been able to start a new life and a new relationship. I have definitely been there and done that. Please share your experiences with me. I care and know what you are gong through.
